The hyjuelos, which are shoots that emerge from the rhizome of the mother plant, are typically harvested when they reach an average height of 30 cm. However, they are sometimes harvested at a lower height and transferred to nurseries. This procedure improves the quality of the tillers and provides a controlled environment where they can grow to optimum height before being transplanted to the final field.
